Trentino Simone Deromedes caused a huge sensation at the Ski Crosser World Cup in Idr Fjell (Sweden) on Saturday afternoon.

The 20-year-old Tao sensationally made it to the finals, finishing fourth. Still: For Deromedes, whose best result comes from this season and ranked 17th, it was a great, thoroughly surprising success. In the final, Canada’s Reece Howard, Swiss Jonas Lenhar and Nickels Baxleitner suffered losses. The Mets’ Yanik Gunsch failed to make it to the finals in 44th place.
In the women’s race, there was initially no South Tyrolin, but Trentino Lucrezia Fantelli. The 24-year-old has made several positive appearances this winter, with the first World Cup podium made possible on Saturday. However, she did not succeed, she came in tenth. French woman Alize Baron was delighted with the win, placing her compatriot Mariel Berger Sabel and Swiss woman Fannie Smith in second and third.
